I am a Ph.D. student under the supervision of Luciano Serafini. My research topic is to teach machines to semantically interpret images. To semantically interpret an image is the ability of a machine to automatically construct a graph that represents the semantic content of the image, e.g., what is happening in the image, which are the actors involved. The approach combines machine learning techniques with structured knowledge coming from knowledge bases. This topic is a bridge between the Computer Vision and Knowledge Representation communities.
My interest in joining different scientific communities comes from my Master thesis where I developed a knowledge-based system for the assessment of the Obsessive-compulsive disorder.
